Yoga Teacher 

I am the co-founder of Awakenings and owner of Yoga with Awakenings. Practicing since 2013, I wanted to create a space to share not only one of my passions, but also to invite you to share yours with me. I received my 200hr certification from Shoshoni Shambhava Yoga in Colorado and am registered with the Yoga Alliance. I am currently in the 500hr teacher training program with Carole Westerman at Evolve to Harmony in which I have obtained my Yin Level 1 certification. My classes will vary greatly ranging from gentle and restorative to hot vinyasa and dynamic. Be sure to check out the class descriptions to make sure the class you are signing up for is right for you. Yoga is so personal to me because every time we step on to our mats we have to do so with such vulnerability where we have to have that honest story with ourselves on where we are currently, not just from a physical point, but also from a mental and emotional state.  I thank each and every one of you for coming to our page and checking us out. Yoga Teacher

Yoga first came into my life through the encouragement of practicing meditation. I’ve always been an active person, so when I found something that I could not only be active in, but also have a moment to just “be” and connect to my authentic self, I knew I found my perfect niche. I quickly became curious with learning more Yoga and I wanted to have a deeper knowledge of all aspects of Yoga. I completed my 200 hour Yoga teacher training at Blue Yoga Studio in my hometown of Fremont, Nebraska and am registered through Yoga Alliance. Throughout my years of practice, I have learned so much about myself, about my purpose, and about my body along with what my body needs. I never pictured myself as a yoga instructor at first, I just wanted to know more about this practice, but once I started learning more, I knew in my heart that if I didn’t share my experiences and knowledge with others, that I wouldn’t continue to grow with my practice. My typical teaching style is Slow Vinyasa Flow or Hatha. I enjoy being able to help a body move and breathe while also cultivating a peaceful environment. I truly believe that yoga is for everyone. Whether you’re looking for flexibility, strength, relaxation, or a deeper connection to self. It’s YOUR journey - that’s the beauty of yoga to me.

Yoga Teacher

My journey with yoga began 20 years ago. As a young working mother, I was struggling with body image insecurities, stubborn baby weight, with more stress and responsibilities than ever. I just didn’t feel good. Restrictive diets and exhausting workouts were causing me to feel worse instead of better. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was starved for balance and self-care. I began to attend group yoga classes in lieu of a few of my high impact cardio routines, and I absolutely fell in love with it. It provided a few hours a week to give my mind, body and spirit some love and attention. It helped me recover from both mental and physical stress that work, lifestyle and insufficient sleep created. It forced me to slow down, to pay attention to how I was feeling, and to take care of myself in a more compassionate and forgiving way. I gained an appreciation for my body that I never had before. I felt better, stronger, more flexible and alert. I was even sleeping better. Eventually something I never expected happened…I began to accept my body as it was. My health improved, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well.

Yoga had made such a significant change in my life that I toyed with the idea of getting my Yoga Teacher Certification for a decade. In 2017 I finally decided to take the leap and in May, 2018 I completed my 200 hour Teacher Training under Lisa Kanne at Karma Yoga. It is very exciting to take steps in my journey that will not only improve my own personal health, but also provide a path to connect with others and share this amazing tool to feeling better, improving health and longevity of quality living.
